St. Patrick was a drunkard, as we have it,
And this is why all Irishmen had loved him.
And he was born on 17th of March,^*
Was born and since that day he was not sober.
But then he took the mystery of baptysm,
And brought the Bible to the Erin Isle.
So let's put on our green and brown jackets,
And let's take up our green and brown bottles,
And let us drink the glory of St. Patrick,
And Sláinte to us four Irishmen fair!
